Subject: SG-2000 AM filter BYPASS modification From: zielke@fozzie.muppets (David Zielke) Several people have asked me how to remove the AM filter on the SG-2000 to allow AM broadcast band reception. I have sent instructions from memory but here are the instructions which I got from SGC (I just called SGC and recieved their blessing [thanks Terry] to put this on the internet as it is copyrighted material). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SGC SG-2000 To Bypass AM Filter in SG-2000 1. Remove top cover by removing 6 each 6-32 Black Phillips head screws which secure cover to the SG-2000 2. Place radio with exciter PCB up. 3. There is a long "L" shaped metal heatsink bracket located on the left side of the exciter. On this bracket is the AM Filter PCB. 4. On the AM filter board, disconnect the gray coax from RF in jack and disconnect the short coax on the AM filter into J101. Tape up short coax connector or remove AM filter board entirely. 5. Connect the long coax directly into J101. 6. Replace the top cover and secure with 6 Phillips head screws. This concludes the bypass procedure for the AM filter. Your SG-2000 HF SSB should now receive down to 500 KHz. If further assistance is required, please contact SGC. SGC copyright (c) March 1995 SGC Inc.
